UPSC Prelims:

With just a month left, the toppers of UPSC suggested the aspirants solve sample papers and attempt mock tests to get acquainted with the pattern of the exam. UPSC Mains:

The toppers said while prelims exams test your knowledge on subjects, the CSE mains exam analyses your depth and approach on topics. For Mains, you need to take Public Administration as an optional paper. You need to prepare answers like IAS officers. You have to practice daily answer writing for the mains exam. You can make notes also for the revision. Take a look at UPSC previous year’s question papers from the past one-two year. From these papers, you will get an idea about the exam. 

UPSC CESE Mains:

There is no strategy to crack the interview stage. You need to keep knowledge about politics, sports or entertainment. You need to be factual and keep the rest for the interviewer. The toppers advised that aspirants fill the DAF( Detailed Application Form) carefully as the question are asked on the basis of it. IAS current affairs are important for the exam.

Tips for the study:

  • According to the toppers: the questions in prelims will be current affairs, history, and geography. It can be based on current events or not conventional type. A question was from excavations in Haryana and among others in History.
  • They said they kept studying for 5-6 hours regularly. They read all events from January to May assuming their prelims are in 2020. If they saw a historical event is repeated in news in the current time, then they must read. Download IAS daily current affairs and start making notes. 
  • They noted down all the recent development and schemes every day from the newspapers. They only read from The Hindu and The Indian Express. You have to be curious and keep your eyes and ears open. You need to look up everything on the internet.
